Victory in Spain!

Posted by hkvittinghus at 09:00 AM on May 24, 2009

Hi all,

I'm so happy to tell you all that I won my final today by beating Kashyap from India 21-10 21-16. That keeps my perfect record in international finals going as I've now been in 4 finals and won them all.

It started off rather evenly with Kashyap having the upper hand, but soon I found a good rythm and I led 11-10 at the interval. In the first point after the break my opponent twisted his ankle and we had a long break where he recieved medical attention. I managed to keep my focus and capitalised on his inablity to move freely due to the ankle, so I took 9 points straight to make it 21-10.

In the second set I was in complete control from the beginning going up 10-2 in no time. But then Kashyap played some great rallies while I got a little bit tense and he closed the gap to just 2 points, 10-8. But soon I found my rythm again and was in control the rest of the way. I never let it be any closer than a 2-point gap and finished it off on my third matchpoint 21-16.

As I said this is my fourth international title and it couldn't come at a better time. Now I'm going to the Super Series in Singapore and Indonesia in june full of confidence hoping to build on my momentum!

Tonight I'm going to celebrate with the rest of the danish team by going to the stadium to watch Real Madrid play Mallorca in the spanish footballleague. I'm sure this will be a nice experience and the mood will surely be high amongst us as we also managed to win the title in both ladies and mens doubles!

That's it for now, I hope to update again some time during the coming week.
