Indonesia Open - Qualifying

Posted by hkvittinghus at 11:48 AM on June 16, 2009

Hi all,

I'm now in Jakarta for the Indonesia Open Super Series. Arrived here monday night local time (tuesday 22.50 as I write this) and played my first match this morning at 10...

I played Hayom Rumbaka from Indonesia and won a very close 3-set battle 21-16 15-21 21-19. The end of the third set was real tense. I had two unbelievable saves at 19-18 for me to win me the point and earn two matchpoints instead of him tying up the score at 19-all. Obviously very important and I think this very point won the match for me.

It wasn't one of my greatest matches, made far too many easy errors, but it was a win nonetheless, so I'm happy about winning a match where I didn't bring my A-game!

The atmosphere was great during most of the match, the fans here are truely fantastic and it's just a joy to play in front of them. I would wish it was like that when we play in Denmark as well!

In my second match of the day I had to play Canadian Andrew Dabeka, whom I beat 21-17 21-14. I felt pretty much in control throughout the match and is very pleased with my performance in this match.

I managed to lower the amount of mistakes and played with great patience most of the time, not really letting him into the game at any stage.

This win means I'm now in the main draw, which obviously is a great achievement for me and I'm just so pleased about that right now. But at the same time I also know it's only a small step towards the things I want to achieve!

Tomorrow I'll play Muhd Hafiz Hashim of Malaysia, a player whom I played in Denmark Open last year. A match I lost in a very close 3-setter, so now is the time for revenge!

I'm really looking forward to play another match at this great stadium here in Jakarta in front of the fanatic crowd and test myself against another topplayer. I will do my very best and fight as hard as possible, then I'm sure I will have great fun on court tomorrow.

Now it's time to get some sleep, will update again tomorrow!
